Landscape Architecture in Singapore:

From Site Planning to Planting Design

Good landscape architecture begins long before the selection of trees and plants. It starts with understanding the site — how people move through it, how spaces connect, how buildings relate to the outdoors, and how nature can become part of everyday life.

As a Singapore landscape architect practice, D’Land International approaches every project through a combination of creativity, functionality and environmental understanding. From residential developments and public housing to commercial spaces, parks and streetscapes, thoughtful site planning provides the foundation for successful landscape design.

Through site planning, our landscape architects study circulation, activity zones, levels, access, views and the relationship between architecture and open space. These considerations are then developed through landscape design, where spaces are shaped into gardens, plazas, recreational areas, playgrounds, pool decks, green corridors and other meaningful outdoor environments.

An equally important part of the process is planting design. Trees, shrubs and groundcovers are selected not only for visual character, but also for scale, shade, growing conditions, long-term maintenance and their contribution to the overall experience of the place. A well-considered planting palette can soften the built environment, improve comfort and establish a stronger connection between people and nature.

For us, landscape architecture is more than beautifying a space. It is about creating practical, memorable and resilient environments where people can live, work, meet, play and enjoy nature.

As a Singapore landscape architect and landscape design consultancy, D’Land International provides services from initial site planning and landscape architecture through detailed planting design and site implementation, creating outdoor environments that balance nature, people and the built environment.
